Youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow. They are the leaders of today. CDN celebrates the vivacity and enthusiasm that youth have for adventure, for knowledge, and for progress. In developing countries, "youths" include anyone from the age of 12 to 35. Because of this, CDN has worked with youth in Sudan, Kenya, Pakistan, Nepal, Honduras, and Guatemala to build their capacity as community leaders. A growing interest of youth is TECHNOLOGY. As part of a global phenomenon, youth are "getting connected" through email, blogs, websites, Facebook, and Twitter. CDN has facilitated an annual "Youth Summit" in Nepal since 2006. The fifth summit is slated for Summer 2010. Youth Summits provide an opportunity for youth leaders from across Nepal to come together and talk about issues they care about. CDN provides the forum and funding to gather, but the youth create their own agenda and decide how to spend their 3 days together. Some of the key topics these youth have discussed include: Social Networking, Microenterprise, Youth-Managed Resource Centers, Community Service, and Social Entrepreneurship. |
